Dedicated Companion

Writer's picture: Hassanah WhiteHassanah White

Every morning I have a routine. I try my best to wake up around 5am and in no particular order I’ll workout, pray, read scripture and sometimes write in my journal. It’s become habit forming. I’ll be honest, I don’t workout or write in my journal every morning but the prayer and reading of scripture is a must. I’ve become dedicated to the process of doing this. The scripture says in Psalms 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

This hasn’t always been my process. I had to encourage myself and learn how to read the Holy Bible. I found myself buying 2 or 3 versions of physical bibles (I like to turn actual pages and highlight) to reference and understand what I’m reading. A synonym for Holy is dedicated and Bible is companion. It’s not just a Holy Bible to me anymore it’s my dedicated companion. Therefore, I’m never alone. Without it I do feel alone. I tell myself that my dedicated companion is going to help me understand what to do next, so I find myself running to it and talking to God before I do anything else. Because we are in a relationship. Proverbs 18:24 says a man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Because God is my friend he sticks close to me and I gain His wisdom from scripture.

When is the last time you set up to be with your dedicated companion? Psalms 119:105 tells us that your word is a lamp to my feet and light to my path. The dedicated companion lights the right for us to maneuver here on earth. All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 2:16-17.

I encourage you today to create a habit forming routine with your dedicated companion. It’s worth it.

Let’s Pray

Heavenly Father thank you for providing us with the Holy Bible to be our dedicated companion. You have not only filled it with your promises but given us examples for us to follow and to learn more and more about Jesus. Help us through the Holy Spirit to understand what you’re saying so we can obey your word. In Jesus Name Amen.

Hugs and Kisses

Shan~
