Will you be dining alone?

Writer's picture: Hassanah WhiteHassanah White

We all have had the experience to eat out at a restaurant of our preference. When entering an establishment they will ask you a few questions.

  • Will you be dining alone?

  • Would you like a booth or table?

  • Inside or outside patio?

Normally, you make a choice based on what will appease you. You set the environment setting and comfortability of where you will sit.

Now, visually imagine with me a visit to a restaurant. You are letting the hostess know that you will be dining alone. You will take a table. You follow the hostess to your table. They place the menu in front of you. You sit down and then you notice silverware for more guest, but you know you are dining alone.

But are you?

Let's skip ahead, food arrives and the place settings for more guest are still there, but you are still dining alone.

But are you?

Even when we think we are alone, we are never alone!

Psalms 23:5; the first part of the verse says you prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. I want to break the scripture down to make it easier to chew.

You- God, Daddy, Shepherd, Lord, Provider, Protector, Comforter, Rest, Peace and more.

Prepare- make ready

Table- a level surface on which objects may be placed, and that can be used for such purposes as eating; meeting place

Before- in front of

Me- refer to himself or herself

Presence- occurring now/existing time

Of- relationship between

Enemies-a person who actively oppose or hostile to someone or something

To sum it all up

Our Protector makes ready a meeting place in front of me in the existing time between a person who actively oppose or hostile against me.

Why would God let us sit at a table when He knows an enemy is there too?

This is where it gets really good. We easily forget in Psalms 23 verse 4, that before He set us at the table He took us through the darkest valley (the shadow of death), and told us we will fear no evil for He is with us. His rod (thin straight bar made of wood or metal) and staff (long sturdy stick with a hook at one end) they comfort us.

Jesus knows first hand what it's like to sit at the table with an enemy. Matthew 26:20-21; when evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the twelve. And while they were eating, He said, "Truly, I tell you, one of you will betray me."

Before God sits...He prepares

BEFORE GOD SITS...HE PREPARES 🙌🏾

You don't sit at a dirty table in restaurant, it's cleaned (prepared) for you and then you sit.

Sis Encourage yourself, look in the mirror and say bodly, "I'm never alone!" Cry if you have too, but believe what you say. Hebrew 13:5; God has said, "Never will I leave you, Never will I forsake you."

Now encourage another woman today by letting her know what God has said.

The table has been set and the food has been prepared. Let's E.A.T!
